This project derives heavily from the study of cymatics, a phrase coined by Hans Jenny, which is the study of wave phenomena. Out of attempts to approach this sonic ontology, comes the realization that there are prohibitions, perhaps universal ones, on thinking about sound in this way, and from that emerges what I call the politics of vibration. €Cymatics is the study of wave phenomena. Then he turns up the music, typically dynamic and percussive like Karlheinz Stockhausen, Miles Davis or Kraftwerk, and lets the vibration of the speaker send the paint aloft in patterns that reveal themselves through the lens of his Hasselblad. Four years ago he created a series of photos In addition to the debt owed to abstract expressionism, Klimas says his major influence was Hans Jenny, the father of cymatics, the study of wave phenomena. The membrane is set into vibrations by singing rather loudly through a cardboard pipe. It is typically associated with the physical patterns produced through the interaction of sound waves in a medium. A simple experiment demonstrating the visualisation of cymatics can be done by sprinkling sand on a metal plate and vibrating the plate, for example by drawing a violin bow along the edge, the sand will then form itself into standing wave patterns such as simple concentric circles. [Caduceus] We live in a vast ocean of sound, whose infinite waves ripple the shores of our awareness in myriad patterns of intricate design and immeasurably complex vibrations … permeating our bodies, our psyches, to the To those of us for whom 'seeing is believing', Cymatics, the science of wave phenomena, can be a portal into this invisible world and its myriad effects on matter, mind and emotions. Cymatics, or the study of wave phenomena (both audible and inaudible), concerns the visualization of perstalsis in the vibration of matter. However, I argue that what is still somewhat off limits in the field is a consideration of the ontological status of sound: in other words, what it means to understand our own being in the world as a sonic phenomenon. From my research, Cinder seems to be using OpenGL GLSL Shading framwork and maths of cymatics – A Study of Wave Phenomena and Vibrations. CYMATICSA Study of Wave Phenomena and VibrationA complete compilation of the original two volumes by Hans Jenny. Hope they release the Cinder under GPL opensource.. Jenny's cymatic images are truly awe-inspiring, not only for their visual beauty in portraying the inherent responsiveness of matter to sound (vibration) but because they inspire a deep recognition that we, too, are part and parcel of this same complex and intricate vibrational matrix – the music of the spheres! Volume 1, 1967 The structure and dynamics of waves and vibrations. Cymatics, the study of wave phenomena, was pioneered by Swiss medical doctor and natural scientist, Hans Jenny (1904-1972). His discoveries were published in two volumes of book 'Cymatics – A Study of Wave Phenomena and Vibration (1967 /1972).
